Youth Contemporary Service
Sundays at 6:00pm
Hello Church Family!
As you know, Governor Ivey lifted the mask mandate for the State of Alabama this past Friday. The HUMC COVID-19 Task Force met Tuesday evening to discuss how this will look for our own Church Family. Bishop Graves recently released a statement urging churches within the Alabama-West Florida Conference to maintain current COVID protocols until more members of the community have the opportunity to become fully vaccinated. Please take a moment to read his statement here: https://www.awfumc.org/newsdetail/15156600
At the meeting, our committee members talked about various ways to keep our church members safe while attempting to relax some of the original protocols put in place at the beginning of the pandemic over a year ago.
We are excited to announce that beginning this Sunday, April 18, 2021, we will begin having two worship location options for our Sunday Morning Worship service. Our Sanctuary will still be our primary location, and we have decided to maintain a bit of distancing by keeping our seating limited to every other pew. However, the use of masks in the sanctuary will now be optional. You will also see the return of the Hymnals, Bibles, and registration pads at each active pew.
Our second worship location, located in the Family Life Center, will be showing the sermon on the projection screens. Tables and chairs will be set up for a more relaxed atmosphere to enjoy coffee and breakfast while viewing the service. Again, social distancing will be encouraged with tables spread out. Masks will still be optional.
As mentioned above, breakfast items will be available in the FLC across from the coffee bar before the service. We will be offering individually wrapped pastries for now.
Our Task Force has also decided that all restrooms, water fountains, and water coolers will be in use again throughout the Church.
Regarding Communion, we will continue using the individual wafers and juice servings until further notice, at least for another couple of months.
We know this has been a difficult year navigating through the pandemic, but we are thankful to be slowly returning back to normal. We look forward to seeing each of you on Sunday!
If you have any additional questions, please call or email the church office.
